Musikeon Books is the publishing imprint of Musikeon, the company we founded in 2003 with the aim of offering musicological services and specialist musical training programmes throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
Having worked jointly with the publisher Nortesur on the Nortesur Musikeon collection (devoted principally to offering Spanish translations of specialist music texts), we decided to invest all our experience in this new initiative, focusing on brand new texts written to precise and, in some cases, somewhat unconventional guidelines.
We issue publications that approach music in line with the latest tendencies in contemporary musicology. They are penned by artists and researchers of international renown. Our guarantee is the delivery of maximum editorial quality, opting against the more common digital printing form in favour of offset process, using carefully-selected professional design for both covers and interiors, and rigorously applying style criteria in line with Writing About Music, the manual and our first, flagship release for readers.
Furthermore, we are putting into practice a conceptual reworking of the relationship between author and publisher, one based on the production and distribution of each book, a collaboration that will bring financial terms that would be unimaginable under a typical publishing set-up.
Another characteristic of this project is the guarantee that all our books will be available in frontline international libraries. We personally handle the direct mailing of copies to an inventory of leading institutions, thus assuring the dissemination of their content and the circulation of the names of the authors of our books, not only in Spanish-speaking countries but also in universities and libraries worldwide.
